Hosting Provider Leaseweb
1 review
Leaseweb.com is a global infrastructure provider, founded in the Netherlands in 1997. The company specializes in bare-metal, dedicated servers, cloud VPS, and colocation, targeting business clients and services with high computational loads.
Security
Basic DDoS filtering is enabled by default and operates at the network level. The standard limit is 10 Gbps: if exceeded, the channel speed is temporarily limited to 1 Gbps until the attack ends. Automatic backups are not provided — the client chooses the backup method themselves. Authorization logs are available via the portal, but their retention period in open sources is not specified.
Pricing Policy
The provider targets the corporate segment: the price is fixed for the entire rental period, without unexpected changes upon renewal. The lineup includes both ready-to-deploy configurations and fully customizable builds — you can add disks, expand the channel, or replace the processor without migrating to a new server. Payment is accepted via cards, bank transfer, and cryptocurrency. If you cancel within 72 hours, a refund of the unused balance is possible.
Infrastructure
For bare-metal, hardware of the latest generations is advertised: Intel Xeon Gold, AMD EPYC 7003, DDR4 ECC, NVMe U.2 in RAID-1, and professional A100/V100 GPUs upon request. For VPS — KVM, NVMe, no overselling. Network port — from 1 Gbps to 20 Gbps with unlimited traffic; an upgrade to 100 Gbps is available for an additional fee. Management is done via the Customer Portal: OS selection, IPMI/iKVM, snapshots, monitoring; you can upload your own ISO image and connect via SSH key.
Data Centers
The provider's infrastructure is distributed across 19 da locations in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. These include major network hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Sydney. All facilities comply with Tier III–IV levels and are equipped with redundant power supplies with diesel generators. Latency to Moscow from European locations is about 35–45 ms, to New York — approximately 25 ms, to Singapore — around 40 ms. Server migration between regions is not automated: to change the location, you need to order a new bare-metal server and synchronize data manually. Hot standby is not advertised, but when using multiple machines, the provider helps set up a cluster configuration.
Advantages
-
choice of 19 points of presence and direct participation in AMS-IX, DE-CIX, LINX, HKIX;
-
fixed bandwidth up to 20 Gbit/s without traffic overcharges, can be upgraded to 100 Gbit/s;
-
full IPMI/iKVM access without additional fees or restrictions;
-
ability to pay with cryptocurrency and refund of unused balance within 72 hours;
Disadvantages
-
backups are not included in the base price and are not created automatically;
-
packet-per-second limitation can "choke" high-load network tests;
-
IPv6 is only allocated as /64 without the possibility of expansion to /56 on bare-metal.
Technologies Used&n bsp;
For VPS, the KVM hypervisor is used, while bare-metal servers run directly on hardware without a virtualization layer; nested virtualization is permitted. Management is done through the Customer Portal and the IPMI/iKVM interface, and the API allows monitoring power status, temperature, and data transfer volume. Both popular Linux distributions and Windows are supported, and if necessary, you can upload your own ISO image. For automation, a REST interface with basic commands is provided: powering the server on and off, rebooting, and changing reverse-PTR. The provider does not offer a mail stack — instead, third-party MX services or Google Workspace are recommended.
Customer Support
Support operates 24/7, with no separate schedule for weekends. More complex inquiries are escalated to NOC engineers, who work on Amsterdam time. In a test inquiry about setting up a BGP session, the response came in about 12 minutes — along with a ready-made configuration template.
